Wondering what to expect at your mini session this fall or winter season? I'm hoping this article covers all of your questions, but if not, please shoot me a message! I'm here to help and make this your best mini-session experience yet. This year (November 2026) I am hosting mini sessions at the Pipe Creek Christmas Tree Farm! These are short & sweet, 10 minute time slot, sessions intentionally planned to preserve the coziness & magic of this Holiday season for your family!
These mini-sessions are perfect for the family looking for a handful (10 of your favorite images) of select images from your session with a themed backdrop for sending out Christmas cards or just bottling up the magic, silliness, & love your family has this Christmas season. If you don't think your kiddos can hang for a full-session, these 10 minute time slots are truly the perfect amount of time to document your family before anyone gets tired, bored, or hungry in a field dappled with Christmas trees and the intoxicating aroma of pine!

Each mini session with Lauren Kay's Photography is 10 minutes long with a session fee of $375 + tax.
Pricing is simple and transparent. It includes:

- A private online gallery of the best images sent to you within two weeks, just in time to order Christmas Cards!

Outdoor mini sessions are perfect for the families desiring the full-session outdoor feel with the golden glow from the sun in a beautiful field full of growing Christmas trees! These are great for candid outdoor family photos, playing in the grass & sun shining! There's much more space for large families with lotsa kiddos to love to run around & be totally themselves. Picture this: the perfect green backdrop, a golden November glow & the perfect weather (hopefully), your babies smiling & laughing and having the BEST time because there's no time to get bored with a 10-minute session!

Keep it classic & comfortable!
Coordinating outfits work far better than matching! I recommend finding comfortable outfits, especially shoes for the littles. Nothing scratchy or too tight. Find colors that go well together, number 3 in this list may help with that! Look for textured clothing to layer like knitted yarn sweaterers & a ribbed sweater to coordinate, for example! Linen, cotton shirts, silk, these are all great options for finding the perfect outfits to bring out the coziness,
Rich, warm tones will photography beautifully in the November light! Think deep colors with lots of emotion.
Colors you'd find in nature are truly the most beautiful ones to photography. A deep blue, green, or red (think jewel tones) are the perfect winter color staples. If you have overrals, now's the time to whip them out for photos! We're going for a cozy, outdoor, lumberjack (without the buffalo plaid, or maybe if that's your vibe?!) kinda feel. It's going to be so dreamy & magical!

If you've booked a mini session with me before, maybe you know what I'm talking about! In the spring, mamas praiseddd this guide for being so helpful to include all the links to toys used during our session, sample color palettes to follow for dressing the fam, links to beautiful dresses you can buy online and try on at home. I try to include everything I would want to know when preparing for a session of my own! This guide goes out to all the families that book with me before our mini-session.
How to Prepare for your Mini Session
Arrive 10-15 minutes early to your selected time-slot.
Pack essentials for young kiddos! Wipes, snacks, a hairbrush, and favorite toys or holiday books.
Relax mama! Have fun - I will guide your family through the entire session.
Trust that I will document the most magical moments between you, your babies, and your love for you to have as a memory to hold for Christmas seasons to come.
How to Prepare for your Mini Session
You will recieve your images back within two weeks from our session date! My online gallery system will allow you to choose your 10 favorite images from our session, with the option to purchase all of them if you can't pick! There's absolutely no pressure to purchase more though. :)
