Wondering what to expect at your mini session this fall or winter season? I'm hoping this article covers all of your questions, but it not, please shoot me a message! I'm here to help and make this your best mini-session experience yet. This year I am hosting mini sessions at two different locations! These are short & sweet, 10 minute time slot, sessions intentionally planned to capture the coziness & magic of this Holiday season for your family! You have the option to choose in-studio with a White Christmas, Winter Wonderland aethetic OR outdoor portraits! The outdoor location is TBD, but we are exploring the idea of hosting at a Christmas Tree farm!
These mini-sessions are perfect for the family looking for a handful (10 of your favorite images) of select images from your session with a themed backdrop for sending out Christmas cards or just bottling up the magic, silliness, & love your family has this Christmas season. If you don't think your kiddos can hang for a full-session, these 10 minute time slots are truly the perfect amount of time to document your family before anyone gets tired, bored, or hungry!

What's included in Your Christmas Mini Session
Each mini session with Lauren Kay's Photography is 10 minutes long with a session fee of $375 + tax. You have the choice of an in-studio or outdoor date!
That price is simple and transparent. It includes :
- Our time together
- A curated White Christmas in-studio set or a beautifully green outdoor backdrop!
- A private online gallery of the best images sent to you within two weeks
- Your choice of 10 high-resolution digital portraits for download
These are the quiet moments, the real smiles, the cozy snuggles that you’ll frame and keep forever. If you fall in love with more, you’ll have the option to purchase the full gallery. No pressure, ever. I will also have holiday card designs available to add-on for quick ordering & printing!
In-Studio or Outdoor Mini Sessions - Which is right for you?
In-Studio Christmas Mini Sessions in San Antonio
A cozy, indoor, White Christmas theme is perfect for families with babies or young kiddos! Air conditioned & clean floors for your little ones to move around and be totally themselves for our mini-session. If you are worried at all about weather, in-studio is also the perfect location becuase this date is rain or shine!
I will have my client closet available to mamas who arrive early to try on a dress for the studio sessions, however I always recommend a back-up option that you bring from home in case you don't love the fit or look of my dresses! Studios are easy to access and allow for a seamless indoor experience for the family. This year's set is perfect for your dreamy, polished, & timeless Christmas portraits!
Outdoor Christmas Mini Sessions in San Antonio
Outdoor mini sessions are perfect for the families desiring the full-session outdoor feel with the golden glow from the sun in a quick setting! The location for these outdoor sessions is still TBD, however, we're dreaming up a partnership with a local Christmas Tree Farm! These are great for candid outdoor family photos, playing in the grass & sun shining! There's much more space for large families with lotsa kiddos to love to run around & be totally themselves. Picture this: the perfect green backdrop, a golden November glow & the perfect weather (hopefully), your babies smiling & laughing and having the BEST time because there's no time to get bored with a 10-minute session!
Note: The alternate date in case of bad weather for Outdoor sessions is November 22nd!

Keep it classic & comfortable!
Coordinating outfits work far better than matching! I recommend finding comfortable outfits, especially shoes for the littles. Nothing scratchy or too tight. Find colors that go well together, number 4 in this list may help with that! Look for textured clothing to layer like knitted yarn sweaterers & a ribbed sweater to coordinate, for example! Linen, cotton shirts, silk, these are all great options for finding the perfect outfits to bring out the coziness,
Studio: Consider neutral tones with pops of red, green, or gold
Bright colors can be a bit obtrusive in a studio environment! Creams, off-whites or ivory, tans, and even black photographs beautifully in the studio. Keep with the theme and add in a red bow or choose a shirt with green details, or add gold jewelry to mama's outfit to make for the most beautiful Christmas themed shoot.
Outdoor: Rich, warm tones will photography beautifully in the November light! Think deep colors with lots of emotion.
Colors you'd find in nature are truly the most beautiful ones to photography. A deep blue, green, or red (think jewel tones) are the perfect winter color staples. If you have overrals, now's the time to whip them out for photos! We're going for a cozy, outdoor, lumberjack (without the buffalo plaid, or maybe if that's your vibe?!) kinda feel. It's going to be so dreamy & magical!

I try to include everything I would want to know when preparing for a session of my own! This guide goes out to all the families that book with me before our mini-session.
How to Prepare for your Mini Session
Arrive 10-15 minutes early to your selected time-slot.
Pack essentials for young kiddos! Wipes, snacks, a hairbrush, and favorite toys or holiday books.
Relaxxxx mama! Have fun - I will guide your family through the entire session.
Trust that I will document the most magical moments between you, your babies, and your love for you to have as a memory to hold for Christmas seasons to come.
How to Prepare for your Mini Session
You will recieve your images back within two weeks from our session date! My online gallery system will allow you to choose your 10 favorite images from our session, with the option to purchase all of them if you can't pick! There's absolutely no pressure to purchase more though. :)
